I think it's time to move out of my single garage Dojo and rent a local hall in Napier a couple of times per week. I have twenty square meters of 40mm thick mats for grappling on...stacked away. And I only bring out six at a time.
So now I'm thinking about it seriously after my trip to Auckland. Training with martial artists from all different styles made me think about of how much I have enjoyed my journey so far. How every art you have trained in is a part of you. Even if you don't like it anymore, or it's not the in thing now. You are at least aware of it.
I will post updates on where I'm at with this venture. I have some good contacts in the New Zealand martial arts scene who I'm sure can help me out with planning putting a school together. So it should be fun.
That reminds me of something one of my instructors used to say. "Martial arts is very very serious, so it's very very important that we HAVE FUN!"

1st Post Ever...Samurai Camp NZ 2011
It's been a long week for a short week having taken Monday off to recover from the Samurai camp in Auckland over the weekend. We had some great instructors from different arts sharing techniques. Everyone had something to gain, getting a taste of different styles. Some very different to their own. We had Karate, Kung Fu, Qi Gong, Te-Jutsu and Ju-Jutsu. A good mix of striking, grappling, throwing and weapons training. All in all a fun weekend with authentic Japanese food and like minded people. Thank you Soke Ray Porter for organizing the event and having me as part of it.
